Despite what the title of this post may imply, nobody had to go to the hospital on this occasion and be injected with arm food.

The plan was to take our dog Dexter swimming at Rimrock late today, but as we’re constantly always learning about living in the PNW, your day won’t necessarily play out as you’d planed.

Oh no, we crashed in the middle of the lake!

...no...

It was just all dried up.

As we drove past on HWY 12, we spotted a few dirt bikers having a swirl in the dried up lake bed and at least one parked 4Runner . Next, we wondered “how the heck can we get down there too?!” I remembered a random boat launch just off the road we’d previously visited on our first exploratory trip after moving here, and drove right down into the lake.

I parked up on this rocky island thing as I was worried about sinking, but was never really in any trouble driving there.

We still took him swimming a bit, and played fetch at the deserted White Pass ski resort .

Hero shot.

Where should we go next? The M2C needs fresh rubber and a grand drive before winter arrives in force.

That looks like a rad driving time! For fall hiking have you considered Indian Heaven wilderness or goat rocks? Both intensely beautiful. Also i just learned about the “ backcountry discovery routes” ( Google em) from JustJeepin, might check those out.
